BSc Traditional Chinese Medicine
Member of The British Acupuncture Council
I have over 15 years of clinical experience in Acupuncture and studied (Traditional Chinese Medicine) for 6 years to obtain degree level. I also attended an intensive Acupuncture training course at Guiyang Hospital in China and then later won a scholarship to study again in China. As well as having extensive experience in treating acute and chronic physical and mental/emotional problems with both adults and children, I have specialised training in Facial Revitalisation Acupuncture, Tai Qi and Qi Gong and advanced Synergistic Energy Healing techniques. When appropriate to the treatment, I incorporate bodywork, cupping, moxibustion, gua sha, blood letting, heat therapy and energy healing techniques into my acupuncture treatments as I feel this strengthens and magnifies both the experience and the outcome.
Practicing Acupuncture is my passion. I love my job and I am continuously in awe of the results that are achieved in clinic. I really enjoy meeting and helping the varied types of people who pass through the clinic and feel honoured to be in a position to offer advice and healing to and with them. Please contact me on 07773 288097 or send me an email to ask any questions you may have or to arrange a day and time that best suits you.

What is Acupuncture?
Acupuncture is a life changing, safe and evidence based therapy used the world-over. Originating from China, this ancient practise has stood the test of time and also evolved to keep up with modern medicine. It is now used to treat an array of disorders of the body and mind.
We are energetic beings - it is the energy (or Qi) that runs through our bodies that makes our hearts beat, our minds think straight and everything work in the miraculous way it does! Similarly, if the energy isn't flowing well it can lead to all kinds of physical, mental and emotional problems. This is why Acupuncture can sometimes seem like magic - we correct the flow of the Qi in our bodies, everything works better and we start to heal from the inside out.
It is wonderful and it is my passion, and I hope to share this and help as many people as possible. Please do get in touch to ask me any questions.
Treatments include cupping, moxibustion, bodywork, blood letting, heat therapy and/or energy balancing when appropriate.
"I've been visiting Paula for acupuncture for a few years now and I can't recommend her enough! Her sessions are holistic and person centred. I've tried so many different medications for chronic headaches and migraines and the only thing that has consistently made me feel better have been my appointments with Paula and her understanding of migraines and her amazing talent with acupuncture and massage. I genuinely think she's got a touch of magic, I always feel absolutely fantastic after an appointment. If you're looking for a high quality, friendly, expert service then get booking an appointment."

"I first met Paula Taras about 5 years ago when a persistent cough took me to her clinic. After one treatment I felt significantly better; after another couple of treatments I was free of the cough that had lingered for over 4 months! Since then I have visited Paula regularly to treat all manner of symptoms; stress, fatigue, sinus trouble and even a prolapse! (yes, acupuncture can actually pop your womb back into place! I’m pretty sure Paula is saving me from having to have a hysterectomy!)
Paula’s knowledge, skills and experience are evident in every session. Not only does she make you well, but she is a genuinely lovely and caring person. I thoroughly recommend her."

"Paula is amazing. I have had acupuncture for the past year and she’s really made a difference to my neck and shoulder tension. I work as a therapist and one important lesson Paula has taught me is the need for therapists to get treatment in order to stay the best they can be in clinical practice as well as looking after ourselves emotionally and physically. I can’t thank her enough for those important sessions. She also treats members of my family including my 14 year old son who once had a fear of needles! He’s wonderful now, his ongoing middle ear infections have resolved and comes bouncing out of the sessions smiling "

"I came to see Paula for acupunture to get me through an ME/CFS relapse. My weekly sessions were so very relaxing and the highlight of my week! Paula is warm, friendly, perceptive and knowledgable. I had little experience of alternative therapies, had never had accupunture before and am to some extent a sceptic. However I became addicted to my sessions with Paula, had to wean myself off weekly sessions which, owing to Paula's lovely nature, had become therapy for me. I love the 'bit of tea' and would recommend a trip to see Paula as often as you can afford!"

"I couldn't champion Accupuncture enough, I only hope that one day the ‘West’ will follow suit and introduce acupuncture as a practice along side western medicine to support & enhance recovery and benefit everyday well being.
I am so fortunate to have found Paula, her expertise and degree of knowledge are undoubtably apparent but her kind, friendly, compassionate ‘bed side manner' is what makes her sessions such a holistic and all round ‘zen’ experience.
I appreciate different people may respond to acupuncture in different ways & benefits but personally, my experience with Paula (especially on darker days) meant that I have left my session relaxed, uplifted, relieved, basically a totally different person! Once I've finished a session I always comment with disbelief and say ‘Its like magic!! I am left immediatly wanting to book another appointment with her! Just wonderful!"

"I went to Paula with chronic sinusitis - I had tried everything and nothing worked. She was a last resort and my last hope! Since then, she has also sorted out my injured knee, my migraines and my lower back pain. She has helped me to manage my menopause symptoms without drugs! I have found that acupuncture has a steadying affect on my well being - I feel better and believe that this is down to a combination of Paula’s abilities as a natural healer and the wonder of acupuncture. Now acupuncture is my first choice for cure and for maintaining my emotional and physical well being."

"I've been seeing Paula for some months now, and can honestly say I'm delighted with my treatments and progress.
Paula is a very experienced practitioner who, in addition to TCM acupuncture, provides a substantial amount of written information on the problem and diagnosis from a TCM perspective, together with suggested dietary and lifestyle changes that would compliment and enhance the effectiveness of the treatments.
Each session with Paula feels fully rounded and, as an added bonus, concludes with a relaxing massage.
Having had a number of disappointments with acupuncture practitioners in the past I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Paula for specific problems, stress relief, or just a general "energy" top up. For me - this one's definitely a keeper!"

"My son was struggling with anxiety and was very hyper aroused. I took him to see Paula. She was brilliant with him and gently introduced him to acupuncture...then slowly needle by needle he started to talk more slowly until he stopped and relaxed. It was like she found the switch at the back to turn him down!.
We have been receiving acupuncture treatment from Paula for about six months. Every session is a pleasure, Paula is so warm, kind, generous and it works! I too had a wonderful treatment and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Paula."

"I've been visiting Paula for over 2 years and think she's wonderful. She takes a genuine interest in understanding your physical, mental and emotional health. I initially went for a specific health issue and have continued to visit on a monthly basis for my general well being. I'd never had acupuncture before and my experience of it with Paula has been entirely positive. For newcomers, the feeling of the needles does take a bit of getting used to but within 2-3 sessions I was used to the sensation and got into the rhythm of enjoying a deep and restful sleep while they worked away."

Dear Paula,
Thank you so much for the help that you gave me-quite a while ago now, but so appreciated and the effects have lasted!
I live in Dundee now but I wish you every success for the future and I hope new and lucky people continue to discover your talents.
Warmest wishes and all the best,

"I always recommend Paula at the acupuncture clinic to all my friends and family at every opportunity. I regularly suffer with neck and shoulder tension due to occupational strain. Something in which Paula helps relieve me of. But as well as this she advises me on preventing further discomfort and enlightens me on all aspects of looking after oneself from diet to managing stress. I regularly book appointments as I feel it has become an important part of my wellbeing."

"I wanted to provide something for your website about my experience of seeing Paula Taras for acupuncture:
I loved the acupuncture sessions with Paula. She was fabulous in creating a relaxed and nurturing space in which she worked on all sorts of conditions with me, ranging from hormonal issues relating to menopause, eczema, stress and a dodgy knee!"

Hello Paula,
I just wanted to wish you luck for your move to London and to say thank you for the acupuncture treatments you provided whilst I was going through fertility treatment. I now have a lovely son who is nearly 2!
Thanks again and best of luck for the future.

"I have been seeing Paula for around 3 months and the treatments have had an amazing effect. I was initially quite nervous of undergoing acupuncture as I don’t like needles and had never done anything similar. I had no reason to be nervous and found the treatment itself very relaxing, I’m trying for a baby and have been increasingly anxious and stressed throughout the experience, Paula was really understanding and understood what my issues were and how best to treat them, I started to relax after the first treatment and have been feeling calmer and more balanced ever since. I didn’t realise how bad I’d been feeling until I started feeling better and I owe Paula a lot for this. She complimented the treatments with additional reading and advice on nutrition and exercises so that I could make holistic changes that complimented the therapies. Since starting acupuncture, my PMT and periods have improved greatly and I feel much more aware of my body and hormonal changes, my stress levels have decreased and friends, family and co-workers have commented on how relaxed I now am. If you are considering acupuncture I would just go for it, I’m certainly glad I did. Paula is an amazing woman and will instantly put you at ease; she is passionate about healing and has a very patient lead approach to acupuncture,"

"From my very first visit to the clinic, Paula was extremely welcoming, she made me feel instantly calm and at ease, even though I'd never had acupuncture before. She's extremely understanding, and will go above and beyond to try and get to the root of my problem and relieve me of my symptoms; even offering advice on what other things I can do that may work alongside my treatment. I always look forward to my acupuncture sessions, as I know I'll leave the clinic feeling calm and relaxed. Would highly recommend."
